Edge Server and machine connectivity
The Edge Server is the mandatory print-server layer between MainChain and every connected printer or production machine.
Mandatory architecture
No printer communicates directly with MainChain. Every machine connection follows MainChain, Edge Server, machine connector, printer.
Licence dependency
The paid Edge Server sub-licence requires an active MainChain customer environment.
Deployment position
Install the Edge Server at the production edge where it can communicate with the approved machine interface and the MainChain environment.
Machine onboarding
Document the manufacturer, model, interface, network constraints and expected job-feedback capability before activating the connector on the Edge Server.
Execution workflow
The Edge Server receives an authorised job, delivers it through the machine connector and returns the permitted status and execution evidence.
Sovereign environments
Private-cloud and on-premise deployments may require an integrator-managed connector and environment-specific security review.
